He like every other Avatar is clearly top tier. Also, Aang is by no means a bad fighter in the sense he lacks skill. But because he chose to evade and dodge out Ozai's attacks until he ended up cornering himself he had no choice to break out the Avatar State.
Aang didn't need to go into the Avatar State to beat Ozai, had he redirected the lightning at Ozai he would have won by killing him. It could have been developed more and I think it will be developed more in the comics. I doubt that Nickelodeon at the time would have allowed for a lesbian relationship on their show considering that Stephen Universe has to use symbolism to represent gay relationships in their show. And the reason why Korrasami was less than good is not the fault of the creators. That being said the idea of them being in a relationship is not a bad idea. It feels rushed and their attraction between them feels arbitrary. Korrasami is extremely overrated and in my opinion pretty bad. The part where they are related just felt rushed even though it likely was not because their back story was really good. From a character perspective, it just doesn't make sense for Noatak to take away his brother's bending. There should have been a conversation in there between the two. I mean really? Tarrlock even said that the only reason he knew that Unalaaq was Amon was that he recognized his voice. 
I really liked Tarrlock's character, but I thought it was super dumb that Noatak took his bending. I really liked the introduction and I found Korra to be an extremely interesting character. All avatars have the same potential and if pushed to their upper limits are equally strong. There really is no such thing as the strongest avatar in terms of ability. So it was nice to see Korra utterly decimate Kuvira in a fight, but a bit underwhelming. Prior to this fight, Korra had pretty much lost all of her major battles, needing the help of friends to defeat the enemy or the fight ended in a draw, in the fight against Unalaaq both (although to be fair to Korra she was at a disadvantage in most of her fights as her opponents often used dirty tricks). I thought the final fight versus Kuvira was a bit underwhelming, but necessary. Suyin and Lin who are amazing characters by their own right. Including light-hearted, but great characters like Varrick who is so ridiculous that he is awesome. It is about Aang's reincarnation Korra, who is a pretty awesome character when you look past her disguise of arrogance and confidence that hide her insecurities (which in my opinion makes her a great character as her journey in development is really good), Mako and Bolin, Tenzin and his overwhelming responsibility to preserve and ultimately restore Air Nomad culture, Jinora's journey to become an air bending master, the plethora of sibling and family arcs. While I would have preferred to see more of Katara, Aang, Zuko, and Sokka, the show is not about them. TLOK shouldn't be seen primarily as the sequel to A:TLA, it is its own show. I really liked his character, he was cold, distant, and a bit of a jerk at the beginning of the series (this was learned behavior from having to grow up early and care for his younger brother when they were poor) and he developed into a great character near the end of the show. Mako doesn't deserve the hate that he gets.I thought that Korra was super immature when she was dating Mako, while Mako did make a few mistakes while dating Korra it was her immaturity that made it impossible for them to be involved in a romantic relationship.The Minecraft server IP is, more info here.
